Irving Plaza first opened in 1978 as a rock concert hall, though the building itself dates back to the 19th century. Originally used as a Polish Army veterans’ community center, it was later transformed into a performance venue. During the 1980s and 1990s, Irving Plaza became a hub for punk, new wave, and alternative music, hosting legendary acts like The Ramones, U2, and Nirvana. It has undergone several renovations, most recently in 2021, to improve facilities while maintaining its historic charm. Today, it continues to celebrate its legacy as a premier concert destination.
