What kind of wildlife lives in the Danube River?

The Danube is a pretty wild place when it comes to animals. It’s home to more than 300 species of birds and about 45 different kinds of fish. The Danube Delta in Romania and Ukraine is especially famous — it’s a UNESCO World Heritage site and a paradise for birdwatchers. You can spot pelicans, cormorants, sturgeons, and even wild horses in the area. It’s one of the most biodiverse spots in all of Europe.
