What language do people speak in Ecuador?

The official language is Spanish, but a lot of Indigenous communities speak their own languages, like Quechua. In the big cities and tourist areas, some people also understand English, but not everywhere. If you know a little Spanish, you’ll get around much easier. Locals are generally friendly and patient if you try a few words.
