Montserrat is famous for its volcanic activity, especially the Soufrière Hills volcano that erupted in the 1990s. The eruptions reshaped the island and buried the former capital, Plymouth, which is now a ghost town. It’s also called the “Emerald Isle of the Caribbean” because of its Irish heritage and lush green landscapes. The island has beautiful beaches, hiking trails, and a rich musical culture with calypso and reggae influences. Nature and history are big draws here.
