Rugby’s R360 Global League Launch Delayed by a Year

The much-anticipated R360 international rugby league, backed by Mike Tindall and Stuart Hooper, is facing up to a 12-month postponement due to a withdrawn application to World Rugby. The council was expected to review the proposal this month, but with the delay, a vote won’t happen until at least June 2026—just months before the planned season launch. Organizers promise a high-stakes, 12-franchise global competition featuring both men’s and women’s teams, with matches hosted in major international cities and big-money contracts on the line. Yet regulatory hurdles around player welfare, infrastructure, and international fixtures remain and have sparked skepticism over its commercial and logistical feasibility. Critics argue the schedule may now clash with the 2027 Rugby World Cup in Australia, magnifying the uncertainty around R360’s viability.
