Syria is mostly Muslim, with both Sunni and Shia communities, but it also has Christian, Druze, and other religious groups. The mix has shaped the country’s traditions, holidays, and architecture. Historic mosques and churches often sit close to each other, especially in older cities. This diversity has been part of Syria’s identity for centuries. It gives the country a layered cultural character you won’t see everywhere.
