Belgium is a multilingual country. In Flanders, people speak Dutch (or Flemish, which is a local variant), in Wallonia it’s mostly French, and in a tiny area called the German-speaking community, people speak German. Brussels is officially bilingual, French and Dutch, but many locals also speak English. So if you travel around, you’ll hear a mix depending on where you are. It’s pretty cool if you like picking up bits of different languages.
