How deep and big is Lake Ontario?

Lake Ontario may be small in surface area compared to the other Great Lakes, but it’s really deep—over 800 feet at its deepest point. The lake covers about 7,340 square miles, making it roughly the size of New Jersey. Its vastness means it has its own weather patterns, sometimes surprising boaters and locals alike. Despite being “small,” it holds a huge volume of water, making it critical for the region. You can see ships navigating all the way across on calm days.
