Is Maui family-friendly and safe for visitors?

Maui is super family-friendly with gentle beaches like Baby Beach in Lahaina and Napili Bay where kids can splash around. The island is generally safe, but like anywhere, petty theft can happen if you leave stuff in your car at trailheads or beaches. Ocean safety is a big deal — currents can be strong, so always check conditions and respect warning signs. Locals are friendly and helpful, especially if you show respect for the land and culture. Families can find easy hikes, nature centers, and luaus that are great for kids. Medical facilities are solid for an island, though for serious emergencies people sometimes get flown to Oʻahu. With a little common sense, Maui is a relaxed and welcoming place for all ages.
