English is the most widely spoken language in Ireland, but Irish (Gaeilge) is the country's first official language. You'll see Irish on road signs, in schools, and in some media. While not everyone speaks it fluently, there's a growing movement to revive the language, and you'll find pockets of Irish-speaking communities, especially in the Gaeltacht regions.
