What’s the currency situation in Cuba?

Cuba has its own currency system, but as of 2025, the dual currency system has been unified. You'll mostly use the Cuban Peso (CUP). Credit and debit cards from U.S. banks don't work, so bring enough cash. Euros, Canadian dollars, and British pounds are easier to exchange. ATMs are available in major cities but can be unreliable. It's a good idea to exchange money at the airport or in Havana. Always have some cash on hand for smaller towns.
