Posted on Oct 10, 2025 / Travel
Marina 101 is one of Dubai's most iconic skyscrapers, and it's packed with some seriously cool features:
- Height & Status: Standing at 425 meters (1,394 feet), it's the second tallest building in the UAE, just behind the Burj Khalifa. As of 2022, it ranked as the 32nd tallest building in the world.
- Mixed-Use Marvel: The building's 101 floors are split between a 5-star Hard Rock Hotel on the lower 33 floors and luxury apartments above. The top floors even boast penthouses with stunning views of the Arabian Gulf.
- Fastest Elevators: Marina 101 is equipped with some of the fastest elevators in the world, matching the top speed of the Burj Khalifa's lifts, though the latter rarely operates at its maximum velocity.
- Delayed Completion: Construction began in 2007, but due to financial challenges and the 2008 Global Financial Crisis, the project stalled. It remained at 97% completion for years before finally nearing completion in 2025.
- Design & Architecture: The tower features a sleek glass façade and a striking 45-meter glass crown at its peak. The design includes two-tone aluminum cladding and double-glazed windows to reduce heat inside.
