The capital of Indonesia is Jakarta. It’s a huge, fast-paced city on the island of Java, home to more than ten million people. Jakarta is the country’s political, cultural, and economic center, with skyscrapers standing next to old colonial buildings. The food scene is incredible, from street vendors to high-end restaurants serving spicy Indonesian dishes. Traffic can be heavy, but the city’s energy never stops. The weather is hot and humid all year, typical of the tropics. Jakarta’s mix of cultures, languages, and flavors makes it a true reflection of Indonesia itself.
