The capital of the Dominican Republic is Santo Domingo. It’s the oldest continuously inhabited European city in the Americas, full of colonial history. The Colonial Zone is packed with cobblestone streets, museums, and historic buildings like the first cathedral in the New World. Santo Domingo is also modern and energetic, with shopping centers, music clubs, and beach life nearby. The climate is tropical, with hot weather and lots of sunshine year-round. Locals are known for their friendliness and love of merengue and bachata music. It’s a city that beautifully combines history and Caribbean rhythm.
