Healthcare debate intensifies as ACA tax-credits remain unextended

While the government funding deal ended the shutdown, it did not include an extension of enhanced subsidies for the Affordable Care Act (ACA) marketplace. Without Congressional action, millions of Americans risk higher insurance premiums when the current credits expire at year-end. Senate Republicans committed to a vote on the issue in December, but House GOP leaders have not made that guarantee. Democrats warn failure to act could trigger yet another funding crisis after January.
