Santa Claus is traditionally said to live at the North Pole. This idea became popular in the 19th century. The North Pole fit the magical winter theme. Stories describe Santa living in a snowy workshop. Elves are said to help him make toys there. Reindeer are also part of this setting. The location adds mystery and fun. It is not meant to be taken literally.
