The first European to round it was Portuguese navigator Bartolomeu Dias in 1488, marking an important milestone in maritime history. The name “Cape of Good Hope” was given because it represented the optimism of establishing a sea route to India and the East. The area is a popular tourist destination, attracting visitors for its natural beauty, wildlife, and sea views. Its rugged cliffs, high waves, and panoramic vistas make it one of South Africa’s most iconic landmarks.
