What is life like on Vanderbilt’s campus?

Campus life at Vanderbilt blends academic focus with lots of social and extracurricular opportunities. Most students live on campus, especially in their first years, which helps build community and friendships quickly. Vanderbilt has more than 300 student organizations, ranging from cultural and service groups to performance, media, and social clubs. Greek life plays a notable role in social life for many students, but there are plenty of other ways to get involved beyond fraternities and sororities. Nashville itself adds an exciting backdrop with live music, restaurants, and internships just a short distance from campus. Weekends often involve Commodores athletic events, concerts, and campus traditions. Many students describe the vibe as collaborative instead of hyper‑competitive. Overall, there’s a strong balance between work and play.
