Getting into Caltech is very competitive and one of the toughest in the U.S. admissions landscape. The school only admits a small number of students each year, meaning many qualified applicants won’t get in. Caltech looks for students who show real passion and ability in math, science, and creative problem-solving, not just high grades or test scores. Applicants submit essays, academic records, and recommendations but Caltech does not generally offer admissions interviews for undergraduates. Because the applicant pool is extremely strong, you’ll need to stand out with meaningful achievements and a clear love of STEM. The selection process is holistic, so they consider personal context in addition to grades. If you’re aiming for Caltech, focus on depth in your interests and authentic passion.
