The situation in Raqqa today is focused on rebuilding and recovery after years of conflict and disruption in the region. Much of the historic city centre and surrounding areas suffered damage, and reconstruction work has been ongoing with support from local authorities and humanitarian groups. Many people who left during the fighting have been returning as services and markets slowly restart. Basic infrastructure like water, electricity, schools, and health services have been priorities for restoration where possible. Security and stability in and around Raqqa have improved compared with the peak of the conflict, but conditions can still vary and evolve. Local communities are trying to revive economic activity through agriculture, trade, and small businesses. Outside observers often look at Raqqa to understand how Syrian cities are rebuilding in the post-conflict period. (Based on recent reports about post-conflict recovery in northern Syria)
