What is the Grand Casino Arena in Saint Paul?

The Grand Casino Arena is a major indoor sports and entertainment arena located in downtown Saint Paul, Minnesota, known for hosting tons of big events year‑round. It opened in 2000 on the site of the old St. Paul Civic Center and quickly became one of the top venues in the Midwest for sports, concerts, and shows. The arena is home to the NHL’s Minnesota Wild and the PWHL’s Minnesota Frost, so hockey fans see a full season of games there. You’ll also find big national concerts, state championships, rodeos, and family shows on its event calendar. With four spectator levels and a flexible setup, it can seat close to 18,000 for hockey and over 20,000 for concerts. It’s right in the heart of the city near the RiverCentre and other cultural spots, making it easy to plan a full day out. Many locals still call it “The X” because of its longtime former name, Xcel Energy Center.
