Ariake Coliseum is a big indoor arena in the Ariake area of Kōtō, Tokyo, and it’s known especially for tennis. It has a retractable roof, which means matches can go on rain or shine without weather problems. The venue opened back in 1987 and has a seating capacity of about 10,000 people. It’s the main stadium for big tennis tournaments like the Japan Open and Toray Pan Pacific Open. It also made global headlines when it hosted tennis at the Tokyo 2020 Summer Olympics. Beyond pro tennis, the park around it has lots of public courts and tennis facilities you can see and use. Because of this mix of world-class sport and community space, it’s one of the most recognized sports attractions in Tokyo.
