Lake Oahe is a massive reservoir on the Missouri River that stretches across central South Dakota and into North Dakota. It was created after the Oahe Dam was completed in the late 1950s and early 1960s. The lake is more than 230 miles long, making it one of the largest man-made lakes in the United States. It's famous for world-class fishing, boating, camping, and wide-open prairie scenery. The shoreline includes public recreation areas, state parks, and wildlife habitats. Many visitors come here to enjoy peaceful outdoor adventures away from crowded tourist destinations. Lake Oahe is considered one of the top recreational lakes in the Midwest.
