What is Cancel Culture? The definition, the meaning, the examples!
Posted on Oct 21, 2024 / Society
Cancel Culture is much like a boycott — termination of support of a celebrity, a company or even a whole country which has committed a crime or made an incorrect statement.
If a famous person begins to admit, for example, his/her sympathy for Hitler or show signs of homophobia, he or she may become a subject to Cancel Culture: people unsubscribe from him in social networks, stop buying his books, watch his films or listen to his music.
Cancel Culture also applies to people who are accused or suspected in sexual harassment. You can think of Cancel Culture as a synonym for such words as "disfavor", "boycott" or "anathema".
