Camden County is situated on the northeastern tip of North Carolina. The area of Camden County is about 306 square miles. The county was set up in 1777 from Pasquotank County, and it is populated today by 11 thousand residents. Camden is the county seat of Camden County. The county is named after Charles Pratt, 1st Earl Camden (1714-1794), who opposed the taxation of the American colonists.
