Forsyth County is situated in the northern section of North Carolina. The county is named after Benjamin Forsyth (d. 1814), an American officer during the War of 1812. The area of Forsyth County is about 413 square miles. The county was set up in 1849 from Stokes County, and it is populated today by 386 thousand residents.
