What is Brain Rot and what does it mean?

Posted on Dec 23, 2024 / Health

Brain Rot is an informal term often used to describe a state of mental dullness or decline, usually caused by excessive exposure to something that is low-quality, mind-numbing, or addictive.

Excessive Media Consumption

Too much time spent watching dull TV shows, repetitive video games, or scrolling through social media, resulting in a feeling of mental fatigue or a lack of critical thinking.

Obsessive Interests

A fixation on a particular topic (such as fandom or meme culture) dominates thoughts and conversations, often in a humorous or exaggerated way.

Humorous Self-Deprecation

People may jokingly say that something has "caused their brain to go rotten" after spending time on trivial or absurd content.

Brain Rot is not a medical term, but rather a slang expression for mental exhaustion or a decline in intellectual activity.
