What’s unique about Philadelphia’s accent?

The Philly accent is one-of-a-kind. Words like “water” become “wooder” and “home” can sound like “hewm.” It's got some similarities to a Baltimore or South Jersey accent but stands on its own. You’ll also hear locals say “jawn” to mean literally anything—a person, place, or thing. Don’t worry, you’ll pick it up quick if you hang around long enough.
