Washington, D.C. has a solid public transportation system, including the Metrorail (subway), Metrobus, and bike-share options. Many of the city’s attractions are also walkable, especially around the National Mall. Rideshare services and electric scooters are widely available too. Parking can be tricky and expensive, so many visitors choose to skip renting a car altogether. The Metro is especially helpful for reaching neighborhoods outside the downtown core.
