What is the Tidal Basin?

The Tidal Basin is a man-made reservoir near the National Mall, surrounded by some of D.C.'s most scenic monuments. It’s especially famous for cherry blossoms in spring. You’ll find the Jefferson, Martin Luther King Jr., and FDR memorials along its edge. It’s a great place for a peaceful walk or paddle boat ride. The reflections on the water create beautiful photo opportunities, especially at sunset.
