Palestine’s history is marked by numerous significant events, including ancient civilizations, the rise and fall of empires, and modern political struggles. The Ottoman Empire ruled the area for centuries until the British Mandate after World War I. The 1948 Arab-Israeli War led to the displacement of many Palestinians, an event called the Nakba ("catastrophe"). The Six-Day War in 1967 resulted in Israeli occupation of the West Bank and Gaza. Since then, various peace efforts and conflicts have shaped the region. These events continue to influence the political and social landscape today.
