How tall is Christ the Redeemer?

The statue itself stands 30 meters (98 feet) tall, excluding its 8-meter (26-foot) pedestal. Its arms stretch 28 meters (92 feet) wide from fingertip to fingertip. Although not the tallest statue in the world, its elevated position at 700 meters (2,300 feet) above sea level makes it appear even more imposing. The dimensions were carefully designed to achieve balance and grace. Visitors often feel awe at its scale when standing at the base. The open-arm posture is symbolic of welcome and peace.
