What is Durham Cathedral and where is it located?

Durham Cathedral is a historic Anglican cathedral located in the city of Durham, in northeast England. It stands on a prominent hill above the River Wear and is considered one of the finest examples of Norman (Romanesque) architecture in Europe. Built primarily between 1093 and 1133, the cathedral is part of a UNESCO World Heritage Site, along with nearby Durham Castle. It has been a place of Christian worship for nearly a thousand years and continues to serve as the seat of the Bishop of Durham.
