Mount Etna frequently erupts, often multiple times a year. One of the latest significant eruptive phases occurred in early 2024, with lava fountains and ash plumes reaching several kilometers into the sky. These events are generally well-managed and attract scientific and public interest alike. For current updates, it’s best to consult the Italian National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology (INGV).
