Cool facts about Stonehenge

Stonehenge was constructed over 4,000 years ago using stones transported from up to 150 miles away. Some of its stones weigh more than 25 tons. The site is aligned with the sunrise of the summer solstice and sunset of the winter solstice. No one knows exactly how or why it was built, adding to its mystery. It may have served as an astronomical observatory or a burial site. Stonehenge is surrounded by hundreds of other ancient monuments and burial mounds. It remains one of the most famous prehistoric sites in the world.
