The London Eye, also known as the Millennium Wheel, was opened in 2000 to mark the new millennium. It stands 135 meters (443 feet) tall and was once the tallest Ferris wheel in the world. Each of its 32 sealed capsules can hold up to 25 people and represents one of London’s boroughs. A full rotation takes about 30 minutes, offering panoramic views of up to 40 kilometers on a clear day. It was initially intended to be a temporary structure but became a permanent attraction due to its popularity. The wheel never stops completely; it moves slowly to allow passengers to embark and disembark. At night, it is beautifully illuminated and often changes color to celebrate special events.
