The Leaning Tower of Pisa began to tilt shortly after construction started in 1173 due to soft ground. It leans at an angle of about 4 degrees, reduced from 5.5 degrees after stabilization work. The tower is part of a cathedral complex called the Piazza dei Miracoli. It took over 200 years to complete, with construction pauses due to wars and financial issues. Galileo is said to have conducted gravity experiments from the tower. Despite its tilt, the structure remains stable and open to visitors. It’s one of the most iconic architectural mistakes in history.
