Is Bran Castle really connected to Dracula?
Posted on Aug 16, 2025 / Travel
While Bran Castle is marketed as “Dracula’s Castle,” there is no evidence that Vlad the Impaler, the historical figure who inspired Dracula, ever lived there. Vlad III, known for his brutal methods, was ruler of Wallachia in the 15th century. Bram Stoker, the Irish author of “Dracula,” never visited Romania, but his description of the vampire’s castle resembles Bran Castle. This association has fueled the legend and made it a central part of vampire folklore tourism.
