What is Devils Tower?

Devils Tower is a striking igneous rock monolith rising 867 feet (265 m) above its base in northeastern Wyoming, USA. It is America’s first national monument, designated in 1906. The formation is famous for its dramatic vertical columns and near-symmetrical, fluted walls. Climbers, sightseers, and photographers visit year-round to experience its unique geology and cultural significance. The tower stands within rolling prairie and pine forest, creating a powerful contrast on the landscape. Its silhouette has also appeared in popular culture, adding to its mystique.
