The official languages of Fiji are English, Fijian, and Hindi. English is widely used in government, education, and business. Fijian is spoken by indigenous communities and varies slightly between regions. Hindi is mainly spoken by the descendants of Indian laborers brought to Fiji during colonial times. Many residents are multilingual, reflecting the country’s cultural diversity. Signage, media, and education systems often use multiple languages to accommodate the population. Language plays an important role in preserving Fiji’s heritage and community identity.
