What is Lake Titicaca?

Lake Titicaca is a large, high-altitude lake located in the Andes on the border of Peru and Bolivia. It is often called the highest navigable lake in the world, situated at approximately 3,812 meters (12,507 feet) above sea level. The lake covers an area of about 8,372 square kilometers, making it the largest lake in South America by volume. Lake Titicaca is known for its stunning natural beauty, clear waters, and rich cultural history. It has been inhabited for thousands of years by indigenous peoples such as the Uros, Quechua, and Aymara. The lake is also considered sacred in local Andean traditions.
