Kandahar’s economy is primarily based on agriculture, trade, and local crafts. The surrounding valleys produce grapes, pomegranates, melons, and other crops. Livestock farming also contributes to the economy. Local markets facilitate trade in goods from within Afghanistan and neighboring regions. Reconstruction and infrastructure projects have further boosted economic activity in recent years.
