The main language spoken in Kandahar is Pashto. Dari (Persian) is also widely understood, especially in business and government. Many residents are bilingual, speaking both Pashto and Dari fluently. Local dialects and traditional expressions are commonly used in daily conversation. Language plays a central role in preserving Kandahar’s cultural heritage and social traditions.
