The capital city of Kazakhstan is Astana, formerly known as Nur-Sultan and before that Akmolinsk and Tselinograd. Astana became the capital in 1997, replacing Almaty, which remains the country’s largest city and financial hub. The city is known for its futuristic architecture, wide boulevards, and government buildings. It hosts many international events and is a symbol of modern Kazakhstan.
