Kazakhstan has a continental climate with cold winters and hot summers. Northern regions experience harsh winters with heavy snowfall, while southern regions have milder winters and hot summers. Rainfall is generally low, especially in the desert and steppe areas. Spring and autumn are short transitional seasons. The climate affects agriculture, livestock, and daily life, making water management and seasonal planning important. Despite the extremes, the diverse landscapes support a variety of ecosystems.
