The Matterhorn stands at 4,478 meters (14,692 feet) above sea level, making it one of the highest peaks in the Alps. Its iconic shape, with four steep faces aligned with the cardinal directions, gives it a unique and dramatic presence. While it is not the tallest mountain in Europe, it is certainly one of the most recognizable. The elevation challenges climbers with thin air and changing weather conditions. Its prominence in the skyline has made it legendary among mountaineers and tourists alike.
