When was the New York Stock Exchange founded?

The NYSE traces its origins back to May 17, 1792, when 24 stockbrokers signed the Buttonwood Agreement under a buttonwood tree on Wall Street. This agreement laid the foundation for organized securities trading in the United States. Over the years, the NYSE grew in size and influence, adapting to new technologies and expanding its trading operations. The iconic building at 11 Wall Street was completed in 1903. Today, the NYSE stands as a historic yet modernized institution central to global finance.
