The culture of Vanuatu is deeply rooted in Melanesian traditions, with strong emphasis on community, family, and respect for nature. Each island has its own customs, dances, and ceremonies, many of which have been preserved for generations. The country is famous for “land diving” on Pentecost Island, a ritual seen as a forerunner of modern bungee jumping. Christianity is the dominant religion, but traditional beliefs remain influential, especially in rural areas. Visitors often describe Vanuatu as one of the most culturally authentic and welcoming destinations in the Pacific.
