When was Lincoln Cathedral built?

The original Lincoln Cathedral was constructed beginning in 1072, shortly after the Norman conquest of England, and was consecrated in 1092. Following a series of fires and an earthquake, major rebuilding and expansion took place in the 12th and 13th centuries. The cathedral was one of the tallest buildings in the world for several centuries, with its central spire reaching over 525 feet, making it an engineering marvel of its time. Continuous restoration and preservation efforts have maintained its structure and beauty to the present day. Its construction reflects a combination of Romanesque and Gothic architectural styles.
