When it opened in 1989, it was called SkyDome, and many locals still prefer that name.
It was the first stadium in the world with a fully retractable roof.
The roof is massive—it covers 8 acres and takes about 20 minutes to open or close.
There’s a hotel built into the stadium, with rooms that have windows looking right onto the field.
The biggest crowd ever was over 68,000 for a WrestleMania event.
The Blue Jays won back-to-back World Series titles in 1992 and 1993 while playing here.
In winter, the roof often stays closed, but the stadium is heated so events can still happen.
It sits right next to the CN Tower, making it part of one of Toronto’s most famous skylines.
Before Rogers bought the naming rights in 2005, fans voted “SkyDome” as the name in a public contest.
The stadium has hosted everything from monster truck shows to visits by U.S. presidents and the Pope.
